Sunshine Artist Magazine Feature

I was so graciously asked to be a featured artist in the November 2011 Issue of Sunshine Artist magazine.

I was beyond ecstatic when I received the invitation through Emily Scott, who is a contributing writer to the Florida based magazine. She writes a bi-monthly feature titled "Emerging Artists."

The November issue featured illustrators who are currently involved in Art Shows, or are starting out in the Art Show arena. I was truly humbled to be a part of such an informative magazine and to hold company with such fantastic artists such as The Filigree, Jessica Durant, Lisa Perz and David Scheirer.

After the initial jubilant "freak out" session, that I'm not afraid to admit scared the living daylights out of my pups and kitties, I reviewed the insightful questions that Emily sent me and I answered them without hesitation. However, knowing that it isn't often you receive invitations from print publications to feature you, and you're more often than not, sending out a multitude of press kits, I was thinking to myself "Is this for REAL?!" I would answer myself "Yes, it is...I think it is, no, it is. It's real." Well, it was.

As we all submerge ourselves every day in this technologically driven world, there is certainly something "solid" about print publications. To see your name, or better yet, your work in print is an "oddgood" feeling (completely my made up word of the day right there) that makes you feel validated of sorts. I'm not sure why it is, probably because paper and ink are tangible. I know that the people who have read the article have experienced my work in a way that not most people have. Paper, ink, magazines, books are immortalizing tools. The satisfaction of reaching the masses in print gives you somewhat of a "I made it!" sort of feeling.

To bottom line it, it's just rad to see your art in a magazine.
